Alright, so my dad has this falconry licence, which makes it legal for him to trap hawk's, and falcon's. He has been trying for two freaking year's to trap one... and he cought one!!! He caught it on the highway, He cought it with what's called a bal-chatri. Yea, your probably asking, "WTH is that?".[link] This is a photo of the bal-chatri, which is a type of noose trap, and it is made of rabbit wire, (typically) it's basicly a wire cage for the bait, rat's, mice, and if big enough rabbit's, that has nuses on top of it, so when you see the hawk, (it has to be perched, hawk's never hunt while in flight,) you set the trap out to where the hawk can see it, and you wait, and if your lucky, the hawk will dive off of it's perch, and it will land on the BC.(Bal-chatri)If and when the hawk does this, you then have to hope that it will get it's feet cought in the nooses. It only takes one toe for this to happen, if you are fast enough to get out of the car (you have to drive while trying to spot the hawk) and drape a towel around it. Dad and I manged to do this,and then we took him home. Dad wants to name him something that is German, because almost all of our ancestor's are German. Oh, and it is a red tailed hawk.
